In an article by John English, the head coach, Chris Cullen, said this season had an impressive total of 168 swimmers in three different age groups. Cullen said one of his motivations with the Lightning summer program is to get kids involved in swimming and to possibly continue on into high school. He said he expects next year’s team to be even larger with a possible 180 members. If you see a Lantana Lightning athlete around the neighborhood, send them congratulations for a great season. ![]() Is your monthly utilities bill getting too hot to handle? Well, there is a reason why those bills seem to be spiraling out of control. According to the CoServ Weather SmartStats webpage, June 2010 averaged 3.45 degrees warmer, compared to June 2009. The same is true with May 2010. You may feel helpless and think you have no choice, but that is not true. There are simple ways to whittle down your spiking summer energy usage. The name of the game during the Texas summer months is to be energy-efficient. For example, during the day utilize your blinds or curtains to block excess heat from entering your home. Another important step is to make sure your home does not have a leak. Check your doors, windows and various ductworks to see if any precious a/c is escaping; therefore making your system work harder to stay cool. Homeowners can additionally opt to add insulation in the attic areas to hold in more cool air. Here are some more quick tips from the CoServ website:
