History in the Making
Forestar Real Estate Group and original partner Republic Property Group purchased the property and assembled some of the most respected land planners, architects, engineers and landscape and golf course designers in the country to create this one-of-a-kind community.
Forestar/RPG broke ground on the development with an initial phase including Sandlin and Larkspur and the Lantana Education Foundation was created to bring top quality schools to Lantana residents.
Lantana’s first residents move in and the spectacular Lantana Main Amenity Center opened with a Town Green with gazebo, lifestyle pool and kiddie pool, splash park and fitness center with cardio and weight training rooms.
The Lantana Golf Club opened and in 2003 became a Semi-Private Golf Club.
Eugenia Porter Rayzor Elementary, named in honor of Mr. Rayzor’s mother, welcomed its first students in August.
A 7,500 sq. ft. expansion of the Lantana Golf Club was completed adding new men’s and women’s locker rooms, men’s card room and lounge, playroom and state of the art fitness facility.
A nature trail extension of the hike and bike trail was opened.
Guyer High School opened providing a new, close high school to Lantana and southern Denton County students.
An additional pool and park was opened in the Heritage neighborhood.
The North Amenity Center opened, providing another state of the art fitness center including an aerobics/multi-purpose room with kitchenette, an Olympic-sized pool, tot pool and large open air pavilion for parties overlooking a beautiful lake.
Lantana added a second elementary school and middle school on the northern border of the community allowing Lantana children to attend school from kindergarten through middle school within their own neighborhood.
New phases, new neighborhoods and new builders continue to enhance the wonderful lifestyle known as Lantana.
Forestar Real Estate Group acquires full ownership of Lantana.
New neighborhoods open:
Adkins Elementary is the third elementary school to be built by the Denton school district in the Lantana area and opened in August. The 88,000-square-foot facility was built on a 12-acre site north of FM407 and west of Copper Canyon Road in Lantana’s Fairlin neighborhood.
